Butler Street is located in downtown Atlanta, right next to Grady Hospital. You will find that our people are not only involved in our church but very active in our community and surrounding area. Our congregation is made up of individuals and families from throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area.

Our worship experiences are designed to present the Word of God as true and accurate. The music we sing will range from praise, gospel to traditional anthems and hymns that reflect our heritage. Drama, monologues are used in our worship experiences. Our Ministries for Children and  Youth are vibrant and exciting. Our goal is not only to teach you God's Word, but more importantly assist you as you take God's Word off the pages of your Bible, and put it into practice in your daily life.

Our church desires to provide a spiritual family for you. We want to help you in any way we can in your personal walk with God. We also want to provide you with areas of ministry where God can use your gifts and talents.

Since August of 1995 Anthony M. Alford, Sr. has served as pastor of Butler Street Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.  Pastor Alford is a native of Dayton, Ohio and is a graduate of Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio.  His Seminary work was completed at The United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio and at The Lexington Theological Seminary in Lexington, Kentucky.  Pastor Alford has been pastor of the Lane Metropolitan CME Church in Cleveland, Ohio, The Phillips Memorial CME Church in Lexington, Kentucky, The Grace CME Church in Richmond, Indiana and Associate Pastor at the Phillips Temple CME Church in Dayton, Ohio. 

Since coming to Butler Street Pastor Alford has brought a new sense of ministry focus that has resulted in a host of more than sixty-five different ministries with the list of new ministry initiatives growing every year. Pastor Alford has been elected every year since 1998 as one of Atlanta’s Twenty Greatest Preachers and is a much sought after revivalist, teacher and worship leader. His unique gift and style of proclamation brings joy and spiritual abandon to those who hear his preaching and motivates every listener to a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. Presently he is leading the congregation through the process of planning for a new Worship, Praise and Ministry facility so that the church might continue its calling in this present age in a church compatible with ministry needs of its membership and the community it serves.  

Active on many boards and groups throughout the Atlanta Area Community Pastor Alford has received many awards and honors. He shares the love of Christ and Ministry with his wife Attorney Debra G. Alford. They are the parents of two sons, Anthony M., Jr, a corporate finance manager and Dr. Aaron M., a third year Surgery Resident.
