Joining
the church is not a complicated thing. It simply
means that you wish to be allied in an active manner
with a Christ Professing Fellowship of Believers. At
the conclusion of the sermon in each service an
extension of invitation is offered to anyone who
would desire membership. At that time the person
seeking membership simply walks to the front of the
church and explain to the representative from the
Commission on Membership and Evangelism that you
wish to join this church. If a person desires to
join at time other than a regular worship service,
this may be accomplished through making known the
wish to any member of the ministry team or
Commission on Membership and Evangelism. The Ritual
of our church sets forth three ways by which a
person can join our church. Those three ways are
highlighted below. Every new member must also
submit to an eight week new Member
Orientation and Training Class scheduled
at different times throughout the year.
You may first join the church as
a candidate for Baptism. This means that you
wish to be administered the right of Baptism as
expressed in Biblical tradition. You may be baptized
either through immersion, sprinkling
or pouring on of water.
Secondly, you may join the church
through Christian Experience. This means
that in your walk of discipleship as an already
baptized believer your encounter with Christ in the
experiences of your life has given you adequate
knowledge of what it means to hope in, depend upon
and live for Jesus Christ. Thus through these
experiences you have become seasoned enough in your
walk that you are able to pick up your continued
walk under a “new housing” or place of membership.
This assumes also that you come to the church with
membership in tact from another church.
Finally, you may join the church
through Letter of Transfer. This letter of
transfer is secured from your former church
indicating that you are a member in good standing in
another Christ Professing fellowship already
having been baptized into the body of Christ. It
does not require a second baptism.
